The network security environment continues to be a challenging one for the security professional aiming towards a higher standard with better legislative compliance. Both Sarbanes-Oxley and Privacy initiatives have been more difficult to deploy that initially expected. Further, continuing proliferation of data past laptops to mobile devices and beyond implies a great deal of required controls where corporate information is concerned. These challenges when put together, will oblige the CISO of any large organization to stretch their limited budgets even further.

Secureops continues to believe that solutions exist to address the many issues that are both easily deployed and cost effective. Infrastructure Protection will still consume large budget numbers as IPS and smarter firewalls are deployed on either a standalone basis or as part of more complex defense in depth architecture. With Privacy legislation becoming more encompassing and public, companies will need to invest in greater data protection as the voluntary encryption of files is no longer an acceptable control on its own. Laptop, external media and database encryption are logical next steps in the chain of controls.

Stronger vision with quicker deployments of best-of-breed technologies complemented by appropriate support and monitoring remain the strategic roadmap for the security professional to address the multiple and complex issues they face. Secureops will continue to strive to deliver these solutions to their customers and participate in the various communities aiming at simplifying this process.
