The SecureOps Shield for M&A Value Protection
Rapidly deployed interim protection that buys you the time and flexibility to securely remediate inherited major vulnerabilities.

CLOSE M&A EXPOSURE GAPS FAST
The SecureOps Shield Provides Rapid Protection for Transition
The Shield was developed for our customers who acquired a Target and realized they inherited major security vulnerabilities. It's exactly what you need when things go sideways.
But it also provides interim protection during the integration and realignment work needed for a safer Target transition. Especially given that attackers are keen to exploit any gaps in your environment during the disruption of M&A.
While the normal flow for a deal would be assessments to roadmaps to interim protection to integration and future state, sometimes the first thing needed is rapidly-deployed protection within days. That’s what The Shield offers when you realize the environment is not what you thought it would be.
For acquisitions without major exposure gaps–or with enough time for pre-close planning–you may not need The Shield and we can take immediate action to initiate your long-term roadmap.

QUICKLY MINIMIZE EXPOSURE AND THE ATTACK SURFACE
How The SecureOps Shield Works
Depending on urgency, you can implement The Shield during the deal process or on Day 1.
Guided by approved roadmaps that identified a major gap, we implement The SecureOps Shield to minimize exposure and the attack surface. This allows time for thoughtful integration with all work done in your security tooling. If no major gap exists, we proceed with roadmap plans for integration.
The Shield reduces the increased risk that often results when speed is the main priority for integration due to inherent threats. You gain the secure flexibility that allows for the purposeful, phased orchestration to increase resilience across the merged infrastructure. When The Shield is lifted, you own the environment it protected. Or, you may choose to acquire the components of The Shield to support your longer-term security operations goals.
Think of The Shield as a multidisciplinary, standard offering that can be deployed across your enterprise in a matter of days. Using SecureOps partners like Fortinet, Microsoft, and others, you benefit from baseline risk-reduction and operational security without any long-term commitments during The Shield phase from Day 1 through your completed integration.
The SecureOps Shield covers most areas of security, including SOC, Network Security, Remote Access, Cloud Security, OT, Vulnerability Management, and more. Its primary use is as a rapidly-deployed stopgap measure during implementation of your end-state plan.
The Shield offers basic enterprise-class services for organizations acquiring a Target with subpar, misaligned, or siloed solutions. This reduces exposure risk from vulnerabilities introduced by legacy or out-of-support technology, SMB-grade solutions, or a lack of visibility

MEET YOUR SPECIFIC NEEDS YOUR WAY
The SecureOps Shield Offers a Flexible Approach
Based on your goals for future-state security operations, The Shield can be either a rapidly implemented temporary protection solution, your long-term plan, or a combination of the below options.
- Rapidly deploy The Shield for immediate protection–even ahead of technical assessments and roadmaps–once you realize pre-deal high-level due diligence didn’t accurately assess the environment you’ve inherited.
- Use The Shield as a stopgap measure to secure the dual environment during initial integration, gaining the time and flexibility needed to implement your end-state plan using a different stack. Once complete, The Shield is lifted and you own the environment it protected.
- Acquire The Shield components as part of your future-state goal and, as needed, we add customization specific to your environment, business context, and industry risks per the long-term roadmap planning.
Examples of The SecureOps Shield Deployments include:
- Short-term SOC monitoring using XDR (EDR + Critical Log Sources)
- Temporary Secure Remote Access using VPN/SSLVPN/ZTNA/SASE
- Critical SaaS protection coverage using CASB
- Risk-based AWS/Azure/other Cloud Workload coverage using SASE
- Temporary Scanning / Zero Day protection programs for critical vulnerabilities
- Zone-Based Protections like firewalling/virtual patching, etc.
